Up It Goes!
We stood and watched the procedure take place. As it happened, it took 45 seconds to completely unloaded three trailers. We were later told there was a crew whose job is to do nothing but efficiency management. The trucks are timed as the come in from the fields, the crane is timed as it moves the load to the wash rack, the milling process is timed each step of the way. The flow of sugar cane through the mill is like music. And each worker present a meticulous musician in the orchestra of the Barra Grande Refinery.
Recent changes in flow-control from the fields to the mill improved Zillo operations, adding another $10 million to the bottom line.
As the crane lifts this load off the truck, notice just to the left of the cane the spraying device just over the first trailer. This is the wash rack where the cane is being dumped.
So now it's in motion!
